King of the mountain lakesThe Königssee
The deep emerald green Königssee is one of the most beautiful, deepest and cleanest lakes in Germany. It is located fjord-like in the middle of the Berchtesgaden National Park, surrounded by a magnificent mountain scenery, with its center, the Watzmann with its world-famous east face. This extends over a height of 1800 meters and is thus the longest continuous rock face in the Eastern Alps. The baroque pilgrimage church of St. Bartholomä is located on a peninsula and can only be reached by electric boats, as can the beautiful rear part of Lake Königsee, the Obersee.
